Linen is the fabric of the season
Why Cairo’s labels are cutting dresses, kimonos and shirts in linen this year, and how to wear it past summer.
Linen has moved from the beach to the city. On Runway this season it shows up in ‘minē’s petite High-Low Muse, in Rae’s kimonos and in GALIENTE’s loose trousers. It breathes in a Cairo summer, softens with every wash and creases in a way that reads as relaxed rather than careless.
Editorial angle
The labels are using linen for shape, not only for comfort: asymmetric hems, wide double waistbands and boxy shirts that hold their line.
Why it matters
A linen piece works from May to October here. Buy one size you can layer, and wash it cold to keep the colour.
